Another food trailer event is in the books!
This time we headed to an evening pep rally and Meet the Fall Athletes event.
We got everything set up, had our pizzas and drinks ready to go, and for once, things seemed to be running pretty smoothly.
Which probably should have been our first warning. π
As the sun started setting, Kobe went to turn on the lights.
Nothing.
No lights.
Apparently, we were about to run a food trailer in the dark.
Kobe immediately decided we needed to invest in some shop lights. Because obviously, the solution to every problem is buying more equipment.
Meanwhile, we called Jeff.
Jeff has unofficially earned the title of “The Guy Who Brings Everything We Forgot.”
Forgot something? Call Jeff.
Something breaks? Call Jeff.
Need an emergency delivery? Jeff.
So off he came with an extra light, saving the day once again.
At least now we could see well enough to figure out why the lights weren’t working.
And after a little investigating, we discovered the problem.
We were using the wrong switch on the generator.
Yep.
One little flip of a switch.
And suddenly…LIGHTS! π‘
So apparently we didn’t need new shop lights, an electrical expert, or an emergency rescue mission.
We just needed to flip the right switch.
Good thing Jeff made the trip. π
As for the event itself, it was a little slower than we’d hoped. We had about one crazy hour when everyone seemed to want something at once, but otherwise things were pretty quiet.
What was supposed to be a 6β8 event turned into more of a 6β7 event.
Not exactly our most profitable evening.
But if there’s one thing we’ve learned with this food trailer, it’s that every event teaches us something.
Sometimes it’s how much dough to prepare.
Sometimes it’s what supplies we forgot.
And sometimes it’s which switch actually turns on the lights.
We’re getting ready for Christmas in the Barns, so at least this gave us another chance to work out a few kinks before a bigger event.
And honestly, I’d rather discover the missing supplies and generator issues at a small pep rally than in the middle of a crowd waiting for sourdough pizza and dirty sodas.
So we’ll call this one a practice run.
Not a huge money-maker, but another adventure for Something Sourdough & The Pop Stop.
And another reminder that no matter how many events we do, there’s apparently always something new to figure out.
Next stop…Christmas in the Barns! π
With coffee, sourdough & the right generator switch βππ‘
