It’s hard to believe it’s been over a month since I last updated the blog. In some ways it feels like forever… and in other ways it feels like everything happened in the blink of an eye.
Since the last update, a lot has happened.
Kobe has officially started treatment and has now completed two immunotherapy treatments. Thankfully, overall he has been doing really well through everything so far.
We’ve also met with multiple specialists, had scans, appointments, more appointments, and honestly learned more medical terminology in the last month than I ever wanted to know.
One of the biggest updates is that surgery is now scheduled.
Originally, the expected surgery sounded very extensive, especially because of the size and location of the melanoma tumor on his scalp. But after treatment and further evaluation, the plan has shifted a bit. The surgery is now expected to be smaller than originally planned, which we are incredibly thankful for.
The current plan is to remove the melanoma tumor on his head along with some lymph nodes. With the smaller surgery, they are looking to see if there are dead melanoma cells and whether the immunotherapy is working. There is still the potential for a larger surgery depending on the pathology results, so for now we continue taking things one step at a time.
There are still a lot of unknowns, prayers, waiting, and cautious optimism mixed into all of this… but we’re taking every bit of good news we can get right now.
Through everything, Kobe continues to amaze me with how well he handles things and how he manages to keep his sense of humor even during difficult moments. Somehow there are still laughs mixed in between scans, appointments, and conversations no family ever expects to have.
As for the rest of life… it hasn’t exactly slowed down.
The remodel project has slowed down a bit… partially because life has gotten busy, but they’re getting very close to moving in. Food trailer season prep continues in between appointments (more on the first outing soon), and life keeps doing what life does… moving forward whether you’re ready or not.
And somehow, school is down to the last 8 days already… although I’ll miss a few of those because of Kobe’s surgery.
Right now we’re simply focused on the next steps, trusting the process, and appreciating every small victory along the way.
Thank you to everyone who has checked in, prayed, supported us, and followed along. It truly means more than you know.
More updates soon.
And because life apparently believes in keeping things interesting… our first food trailer event of the season was complete chaos. More on that next. 🍕🚚
With coffee, cautious optimism & one step at a time ☕🙏
